A NEW INVESTIGATIVE PARADIGM FOR UNDERSTANDING OCULAR DISEASES

LEITR will obtain, prepare, and catalog human eye tissue for research. Allowing researchers to conduct their initial tissue preservation and baseline photographic evaluations at LEITR will greatly reduce the postmortem time of preservation and increase the availability of tissue. Researchers will now have a reservoir of high-quality, human ocular tissue on site at LEITR. One of the most critical factors in providing quality tissue for research is a short time between the donor’s death and tissue recovery and preservation. The LEITR paradigm will make it possible to target the ideal postmortem recovery time. Tissue with minimal postmortem decay and rapid preservation will yield better experimental results.
